F/Sgt Wilfred Mylchreest RCAF of 424 Squadron was the mid-upper gunner was
taken as a POW when Halifax III LV-997 coded QB-E went missing while on operations to
Hamburg on July 28/29, 1944. Also on the aircraft was W/Cdr J. Blane RCAF, Pilot;
Sgt W. McAlpine RAF--POW, Flt/Eng; W/O2 J. Burns RCAF--POW, Navigator;
F/O R. Smyth RCAF--POW, Bomb Aimer; F/Lt C. Kerr RCAF--POW, Wireless Op;
and P/O J. Power RCAF, Rear Gunner.
